You judge heat by colour, and you have one mould and about a minute of flowing iron. Bring the charge up, skim the dross, then trip the ladle and trim the pour onto the weight without running a fat.

Six orders. Three scrap castings and the row closes on you.

    How to pour

    1. Raise it. Hold the bellows until the charge is hotter than the band the order calls for. The swatch on the left is the order's grade; the swatch on the right is the bath as it stands.
    2. Skim it. Once the dross has set to a proper crust, hold the skimmer and sweep it off. Skimming chills the bath hard, so skim late enough to be worth it and early enough to afford it.
    3. Line up. Walk the ladle over the mould with A and D. On a split pour, put half in each mould.
    4. Trip it. Hold E to pour. W and S trim the rate. Shut it off on the weight, not on the clock.

Trip below a red heat and you get a cold shut. Pour long and it runs a fat over the parting line. Skim it half-hearted and the slag goes over with the metal. Hold it at white and you burn the carbon out of the grade.
