GLASSEYE
The hide that arrived is cut for a person.
Red deer, wet, drawn over the plaster half-form and pinned at four corners. Open the throat, draw the hide over, wire it, set the lids, seat the glass. The collection comes up the stair at dawn, and the hide dries the whole time.
- ARM
- tap the head to change station, or 1–6. The cradle turns to the work.
- OPEN
- drag along the cut. Too short and it will not reach the form.
- STRETCH
- drag out, slowly. Fast whitens the fibre, and then opens it.
- PIN
- W wires the armed station. Two and a half seconds of turning wire.
- SEAT
- hold the socket to press the glass in. Hold, then drag, to aim the lid.
- EYES
- Q melts a blank in ninety seconds. Z takes one, X takes the old eye.
- WET
- E sprinkles the hide back. It costs strain everywhere.
THE BENCH WAITS

The hide dries whether you are here or not.
